To Badajoz

To go to Badajoz, you will have to fly to one of the following cities:

- Lisbon (PT), ± 220 km away (± 2h30 journey), then take either the Europan shuttle, a regular bus, a taxi or rent a car;
- Sevilla (ES), ± 210 km away (± 3h journey), then take a bus ot rent a car;
- Madrid (ES), ± 400 km away (± (5h journey), then take a train, a bus or rent a car.

It is also possible to fly to Badajoz through Madrid (ES) or Barcelona (ES).

 

VIA LISBON (PT)

Please note: there is a 1h time difference between Spain and Portugal, which is 1 hour earlier than Spain. Therefore, if you leave Lisbon around 14:00, you will arrive at Badajoz around 17:30 – 2h30 journey + 1h difference.

Europan organises a shuttle from and to Lisbon airport (PT). The journey last about 2h30. This shuttle costs €20/pers. for the E13 winning team and €35/pers. for the other participants; the average bus journey from Lisbon (with 2 connections) costs around €50.
If you want to take this shuttle, you have to chose this package upon registration –the "… + EUROPAN SHUTTLE" packages– and mention your arrival and departure times.

TO BADAJOZ

Sunday Oct. 9, 2016 – for the Workshop participants

- Departure 15:30, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 19:00
- Departure 18:00, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 21:30

Thursday Oct. 13, 2016 – for all participants

- Departure 12:00, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 15:30
- Departure 15:00, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 18:30
- Departure 18:00, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 21:30

Friday Oct. 14, 2016

- Departure 14:00, arrival at Badajoz Palacio de Congresos around 17:30

TO LISBON

Friday Oct. 14, 2016 – for the Workshop participants

- Departure 11:30, arrival at Lisbon Airport around 13:00

Saturday Oct. 15, 2016 – for all participants

- Departure 08:45, arrival at Lisbon Airport around 10:15
- Departure 12:00, arrival at Lisbon Airport around 11:30

Sunday Oct. 16, 2016 – for all participants

- Departure 06:30, arrival at Lisbon Airport around 08:15
- Departure 09:45, arrival at Lisbon Airport around 11:30

Shuttles back to Lisbon airport on Saturday and Sunday will make a small detour to take the potential participants staying in hotels in Elvas.

> BUS
The journey is a bit long and less convenient, requiring 2 connections. It is only possible on weekdays, as there is no local bus service across the border at weekends. If you wish to take the regular bus, the following 2 website – Évora official website and algarvebus – give you the details for the journeys.
There is also a direct line –Avanza Bus–, running twice a day, early morning and late night..

> TAXI & CAR RENTAL
Taxi from Lisbon airport usually last about 2h30 and costs approx. €250. We adivce you to share a taxi whenever possible, to share the cost as well.

VIA SEVILLA (ES)

> BUS
Several companies run to Badajoz. The journey can last between 3 and 5h and costs around €30.

VIA MADRID (ES)

The journey lasts between 5 to 7h and costs a bit less than €50.

Several companies run to Badajoz. The journey lasts about 5h and costs around €60.

BADAJOZ AIRPORT

It is also possible to fliy to Badajoz, but there are very few flights. The Badajoz Airport is located 14km away from the city centre. Daily flights from Madrid (ES) and Barcelona (ES) are done by Iberia.

Within Badajoz

To travel inside Badajoz, besides walking, you can use the public transportation, the local bike service or take a taxi.

> PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Several bus lines go through the city without necessarily penetrating the city centre.
Buslines 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 18 and 21 mark a stop two steps from the Palacio de Congresos. The closest bus stops are on Ronda del Pilar, Avenida de pardaleras and Plaza Libertad.

BIBA

As many other cities, Badajoz has its own bicycle sharing system called BiBa, available for €2 per day.
There are a little bit more than 20 BiBa stations in the city. The closest stations to the Palacio de Congresos are Plaza San Antón and Correos.
