1. How did you form the team for the competition?
The team has been formed so to join our complementary approaches in our own everyday practices. Dahlberg Busnardo is a young office founded in Stockholm in 2019 by Mattias Dahlberg and Annapaola Busnardo. The office work is a result of a combined experience in Architecture and Landscape design. Anton Lindström is an Architect at Ekerö municipality and joined the team bringing his knowledge in environmental humanities and critical theory.

2. How do you define the main issue of your project, and how did you answer on this session main topic, Living cities?
- Showing some grace and leaving be - The project investigates the possibility of planning the future of the site starting from the recovery of its polluted and heavily built soil giving back space to nature and animals.

3. How did the issues on metabolic and inclusive vitalities and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
The harbour site we’ve been given is like most sites these days a patchwork quilt of space left over from planning for humans, producing strange corridors and appendixes. So what better way is there to plan for it than making space for something other than us? Refusing the site and re-fusing it. The project proposal  is  built through non-anthropocentric strategies that respond to the temporary availability of the site with actions with permanent effects but possible flexible uses.
4. Have you treated this issue previously? What were the reference projects that inspired yours?
In our daily practice we have the interest in researching how we as Architects can deal with the emergent environmental and social questions. The reference projects that have inspired us are those that use the void and the un-built as development tool for the urban landscape, activating new type of economies for instance the Emscher Park, the Melun Sénart masterplan by OMA and the Duck Land project of Cendric Price.
5. Urban-architectural projects like the ones in Europan can only be implemented together with the actors through a negotiated process and in time. How did you consider this issue in your project?
“Making space” is a project built thought different strategies. The core and more long term intervention is the rainwater management park around which a system of temporary nurseries and  pavilions are created to give partial access to the site.

6. Is it the first time you have been awarded a prize at Europan? How could this help you in your professional career?
Yes, it’s the first time. The prize encourages us to persevere in our practice and research.
