1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?

2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
Between Grounds is a project about seeking balance and building on what already exists in Hyllie. It draws from the area’s agricultural past, the topographic imprint of regional growth, and the cultural diversity of its residents. By rotating the kaleidoscope of urban parameters, new connections emerge - between soft and hard, past and future, local and regional. A lookout deck, a market hall, shaded alleys, and civic rooftops form a layered urban fabric. Where infrastructures become social, and housing meets ecology, Hyllie becomes a shared platform for Malmö’s inclusive, regenerative future.

PROJECT:

3. Have you treated these issues previously? What were the reference projects that inspired yours?
The project builds on earlier research and practice, particularly the Europan 17 winning proposal Grensen 2030: Circularity Apparatus in Trondheim. That project similarly addressed revitalisation through circular development systems and adaptive reuse, as a social and ecological device.

SITE:

4. How can your project be implemented together with the actors through a negotiated process and in time. How did you consider this issue in your project?
The project’s main strategy is to allow development to unfold over time in three phases: the local neighbourhood, the city scale, and the regional centre. Phased programming provides adaptability over time through collaboration with municipalities, housing actors, local communities, and private partners. Each phase can be implemented independently, supporting gradual transformation, shared ownership, and continuous collaboration among stakeholders, as well as participatory processes within the community

REFERENCES:

5. How did you form the team for the competition and if so what are the skills you associated?
The team is formed of 1 person - Eugenia Bevz, who is a trained architect and urban planner with over 10 years of experience in the international projects of various complexity and scales on the stages from concept development to project documentation.

6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
The prize enhances international visibility, supports the consolidation of an independent architectural practice, and opens pathways for continued collaboration with cities and cultural institutions. Crucially, it affirms the significance of a research-by-design methodology that integrates regenerative architectural practice with strategic, multiscalar urban thinking.
