1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?
For us, Re-sourcing means starting from the site’s existing conditions and enabling a responsible, resilient transformation. We use local bio-based materials, support participation and innovation with citizens, and address ecological restoration and biodiversity from the earliest stages of the process.
2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
We demonstrate a design approach that values existing structures and land for its history, materials, and spatial relationships. Industrial halls become spaces for work, prototyping, and later material depots and green courtyards supporting biodiversity. To address the unpredictable outcomes of reuse and bio-materials, we apply strategies like infills with local biomaterials between solid, reused gables and walls.
PROJECT:
We have explored caring for the existing environment and how to develop methods for care as a concept within architecture. Our design links to community resources of knowledge, time, tools, spaces, and materials and draws on bio-based materials, participation, and existing buildings, inspired by Material Cultures, BC Architects, and Pihlmann Architects.
SITE:
Allow Eslöv’s development to be open-ended. Together with the municipality, local youth, craftsmen, farmers, and architects etc., establish a test hub for prototyping, innovation, and exploring site-specific knowledge, materials, and potential designs. A participatory process fosters care, trust, inclusivity, and diverse perspectives, forming a process that adapts over time and strengthens local ownership.
REFERENCES:
We are a creative duo formed during our architectural studies in Gothenburg, united by shared architectural ambitions. We combine large-scale thinking and a curiosity for resilient design methods with attention to spatial details and everyday life. Together and individually, we also explore illustration and image-making, skills we continue to refine through our collaborative projects.
6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
Being awarded in Europan 18 validates our ideas about methods and design, and serves as a strong reference in future discussions and project development. It has been an opportunity to test our design approach, and it is something we will carry forward into upcoming projects. The publicity internationally can hopefully inspire others and open up future collaborative opportunities.
