1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?
Entraide addresses “Re-sourcing” on three levels: balancing humans, non-human species, and nature; fostering social cohesion and mutual aid; using local, recycled materials in a circular supply chain. The project supports ecological and social evolution by restoring ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and encouraging community participation. It aims to be regenerative, by creating new territorial dynamics and relationships between living beings.
2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
The pilot areas enhance socio-ecological transition by protecting against climate and flood risks, providing access to water where it is scarce and promoting multi-species environmental justice. Ecological transition is addressed through careful material reuse, the use of local resources, and minimal interventions that restore natural processes, responding to site changes while fostering resilience, coexistence, and sustainable territorial dynamics.
PROJECT:
These issues have been addressed in many of our projects, as well as in a previous Europan session in Helsinki (E17). In these experiences, reflections emerged from our engagement with complex environments we know from our daily lives: Venice - with its high tides, the Dolomites - with high-altitude complexities, and Sicily - with volcanic and open-sea risks. These experiences have always taught us to seek a different balance with nature and its composing elements.
SITE:
The project is proposed as an approach, method, and process, rather than as a finalized design device. The evolving relationship between the project and its users, who actively modify and inhabit it, is central. The work emerges from a careful reading of the site, its potentials, and its specific needs, emphasizing collaboration and adaptation over a fixed outcome.
REFERENCES:
Our team builds on a well-established collaboration that predates the competition, bringing together the complementary expertise of its members, all architects or urban planners. The group also includes university students met through a teaching tutoring experience in Venice, with the aim of fostering an intergenerational dialogue based on mutual and constructive exchange. Each contributes specific knowledge in areas such as natural and local materials in Alpine contexts, as well as spatial justice and public space design. This shared yet diverse background fosters an open dialogue and a plurality of perspectives.
6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
This prize represents an opportunity to explore current and urgent themes, while engaging in dialogue with professionals, local administrations, and other young designers with high-quality approaches. It primarily fosters the development of a deep connection between theoretical thinking and spatial-design practice, a fundamental aspect to advance meaningfully in our professional career.
