1. How do you define the main issue of your project in relation with the theme “Living Cities Imagining architecture taking care of the milieus”? And in which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution?
Noting the diversity of environments in the metropolis, our issue was to propose an unifying narrative through the development of a park strategy that goes beyond the administrative borders. The theme raises the issue of the habitability of territories, we answered that by expanding our thinking to a geographical scale, that of the living area that constitutes the Grenoble bioregion.

2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
Considering the site issues, we have imagined an evolving project tool through a “bioregional convention”. It allows to deploy a landscape framework over the entire park and realize several actions presented in tool box. Both sites develop operational projects through the prism of this structure. The rules of construction of the Alpin Centres permit the rehabilitation of la Taillat Farm, while the Athanor factory is restructured by the interface park rules that is replicable into the park.

PROJECT:

3. Have you treated these issues previously? What were the reference projects that inspired yours?
Our Masters and professional projects lead us to work on similar issues treated in this project. We are familiar with territorial studies and proposals of large-scale landscape strategies. The particularity of this site is its understanding of several scales, proposing an overall park strategy that transforms the proposed sites within. Such reflections also demanded large-scale agricultural strategies to be applied in this landscape project, which are familiar subjects in the practice of our team members too.

SITE:

4. How can your project be implemented together with the actors through a negotiated process and in time. How did you consider this issue in your project?
By its geographical inscription, the territory in which the park is established can be identified by 2 indicators : the natural and human geography. We rely on the influence of the Grenoblois living area to determine the limits of the park Every “Alpine centres” territory will provide an opportunity for citizens and actors to draw and express their opinions based on this first proposal. The Alpine centres are designed to be places that provide resources for a better lively city, through the creation of a convention. This convention will allow us to cross disciplines and carry out projects challenging the major ecological and social risk and threats.

5. How did you form the team for the competition and if so what are the skills you associated?
We formed our team based on the site and our common interest in this type of commision. Our approaches and singularities seemed complementary to us, particularly due to our respective academic and professional backgrounds in architecture, landscape and urban planning. Our affinities for certain reflections and varied geographical roots have allowed us to create a multidisciplinary team, and a multiple perspective on the Grenoblois territory.

6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
This award will subsequently help us to diversify our project scales, both in landscape and architecture, and to be able to respond to public and/or private commissions including the issues addressed in the Grenoble area. Receiving a EUROPAN prize allows us to have initial recognition, visibility and legitimacy designing public spaces as young practitioners.
