runner-up

Houses is a system of organising public and private functions for insertion into an existing reality as a new layer, reinforcing its landscape features. It can change perceptions of the site, whilst respecting its nature. It consists of two elements: the House  – the archetypal house, except buried 1 metre into the ground ground – and the sunken paths connecting them.

Spread throughout the park and over the water, each fragment in the collection of houses has a specific identity and function. In between, a system of paths, corridors and bridges facilitates efficient movement. The conference centre is located within the park and internally linked to the lobby of the hotel. From the hotel lobby, a bridge leads to the floating hotel rooms. The spa is situated on the site of the former bathhouse and directly linked to the hotel rooms.

This project is connected to the following themes

Shared spaces - Link - promenade

The revitalisation of the park and its contribution to urban life is achieved by a system of “houses” which contain diverse programmes and are linked together by a network of footpaths that run through the entire site.

Housing - Typology

A system of connection and housing forms the core of the proposal. Deployed in the park and on the water, this innovative housing system works with the landscape characteristics of the place, both highlighting and preserving them.

Nature - Hybridity / Juxtaposition

The building programme is broken up into several small villas. The layout forms a networked layer of buildings that colonises the landscape in a similar way on the water and on dry land.
