Europan 7 Ventspils

runner-up

The existing punctual small scale interventions are tackled as part of a larger project aimed at preserving the framework structure, adding the elements needed to give back dignity and vitality of functions with a maximum of comfort at contained cost.
The activities are consistent with the local economy and culture.
The buildings are not freestanding monumental objects, but are defined as a complex form, capable of inflecting the urban landscape. The surfaces are treated so that the buildings may appear to merge with the ground or alternatively become, through their topographic presence, a landmark.
