The whole plan is structured on the spatial interval. Space, void and objects have the same importance in this “dialogue”. Space and human presence are not additional, but determinative factors: the void is the place for sociability and meeting, the exchange element and the point of connection between the inhabitants and the built matter. The system is made out of interrupted fragments. They draw near each other, they superpose, they surround and frame the main elements of the territory: The whole area is conceived as a wide park. The structure of the plan aims to avoid the entire plot becoming an enclave: this is the reason for including in the general drawing the coming highway as a landmark, and for connecting it to the great natural spaces and to the lakes in the south. We try to build a possible macro-system of green spaces. The housing is raised from the ground through a base whose height corresponds to the maximum height of the snowfall during the year. The properties are not defined by rigid structures or enclosures, but by green plants of different heights.

This project is connected to the following themes

Housing - Community

The idea of a “spatial interval” redefines the relation between buildings, void and human presence. Going beyond the provision of individual housing units, potential living patterns are conceived with the idea of creating a communal social framework.

Shared spaces - A Frame for social life

A wide park opening to the landscape of the lake is framed as a place for social interaction and encounter, by means of a porous and orthogonal boundary of buildings.

Nature - Limit / Reconnection

The site is seen as one large unit of landscape with open horizons. It receives a compression of compact built walls that form ephemeral limits in the open landscape.
