The “new rumbula plan” seeks to re-create the intricacy of pre-existing inter-locking relations, identifying development models capable of harmonising with those already in place. A continuous park acts as a kind of environmental refuge and resource for the area. Low intensity built-up areas act as “islands” within the greenery. The whole proposal can be built in stages. Each low-density built-up area is given its own identity through a variety of architectural styles. Future users will be able to cut out the space they require to develop their own ideas or initiatives. The idea behind Tailor-Made Landscapes is to create a district where a reassuring residential model combines both with the natural world and an active economic life. The whole strip along the river is a public area with natural sites and amenity areas.

This project is connected to the following themes
Housing - Ways of life
By introducing shared spaces with a strong connection to the landscape, the project proposes a whole new way of life. Responsive to the residents, who will be able to “divide the space they need”, the proposal seeks to be a catalyst for ideas and initiatives.
Housing - Community
With its focus on shared spaces and each person’s capacity to change the site according to their needs, the dynamic of the project is fully community-based, encouraging participation through encounter and interaction.
Nature - Limit / Reconnection
Dividing the plots into wide urban plates with an open fabric creates a porous boundary with the river. The landscape and built fabric stretch or fragment to interweave more effectively.
