1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?
Horizons liés responds to the adaptation challenges by offering the residents tools for pooling, empowerment and welcoming at the scale of home, blocks of buildings and urban integration. Regeneration of biodiversity through soils, sustainable mobility development, local low-carbon materials and integration of bioclimatic devices strengthen social integration of an ecological regenerative project.
2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
The neighborhood has recently acquired a well-connected location, bordering brownfield sites currently undergoing redevelopment. Horizons Liés strengthens north–south connections to sustainable mobility networks, while enhancing urban connectivity and creating new east–west through-paths. Diversifying uses and welcoming new residents reinforce the neighborhood’s integration into the wider metropolitan area.
PROJECT:
We have already treated similar issues working on different competitions :
– Europan 16 Aulnat-Clermont-Ferrand, with Florent Vidaling & Camille Le Bivic
– ïlot de la Treille idea's comptetition, with LAO SCOP
– differentiated management plan for a retirement home's garden
– Georges Maillols architecte, a monograph by Simon Letondu co-editor in chief, Presses Universitaires de Rennes
We have been inspired by :
– Porte de Vanves square refurbishment, Paris, with MGAU & JBMN
– Cité du Grand Parc, Bordeaux, Lacaton + Vassal
– Tours de Maurepas, Rennes, Robain Guieysse architectes
– Projet urbain Le Blosne, Rennes
SITE:
The project is a co-constructed, progressive process developed with residents, structured at three scales: dwellings, neighborhood units, and a north–south connecting axis. It seeks to empower residents and foster social interaction. Flexible governance involves residents, Assemblia, associations, and public stakeholders, enabling phased, realistic implementation.
REFERENCES:
We formed this team because we already knew each other and wanted to have our first project experience together. We felt a connection to the site, which is in the city where we live, through both our experiences as resident or professionals. The associated skills in the team are :
– architecture,
– landscape architecture,
– photography,
– a former inhabitant experience
6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
The prize will likely help us strengthen our relationship with Assemblia, an important project owner in the area. We anticipate either a long-term, low-intensity mission as urban planners or a more focused, full project management assignment.
