1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?
Our project focuses on the social aspect of re-sourcing, exploring how the built environment can shape lifestyles that naturally embrace circularity. By showcasing reuse, sustainable building practices, and local heritage, and by creating high-quality public spaces, we foster community care, sharing, reduced resource use, and a resilient, sustainable neighbourhood.

2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
The design builds upon the existing qualities, embracing the industrial character as a foundation for future transformation. The site offers strong potential for a future circular neighbourhood, with existing heritage halls, temporary housing and high potential for acquisition and storage of demolition materials. Proximity to the ROVA waste management facility enables reuse, storage and logistics.

PROJECT:

3. Have you treated these issues previously? What were the reference projects that inspired yours?
We were greatly inspired by projects that focused on the process of creating a truly recycled architecture - how materials were acquired, catalogued and implemented. Additionally, we wanted to look beyond architecture and research how urban conditions can influence reuse to make impact beyond buildings alone - and enrich users lifestyles in multiple aspects.

SITE:

4. How can your project be implemented together with the actors through a negotiated process and in time. How did you consider this issue in your project?
Re:Isselt proposes a flexible framework rather than a fixed design, adaptive to ongoing changes. We defined three phases with associated stakeholders, emphasizing that circularity can only be achieved through collaboration. By involving local stakeholders, businesses, and future residents from the start, we aim to create a resilient neighbourhood ready for sustainable future growth.

5. How did you form the team for the competition and if so what are the skills you associated?
We have collaborated multiple times and form a strong, creative team of urbanists, architects, and landscape architects. Our diverse experiences span multiple countries and specialties, ranging from concept development to execution, enabling us to approach projects with both creativity and practical expertise.

6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
We see this prize as a kick-off for future projects by our team, hopefully already in Amersfoort. With diverse expertise, we aim to approach the project holistically, provide complex knowledge, and become an integral part of the Kop van Isselt design team. Competitions help us build our design identity as a team and crystallize our strategic development path.
