You chose to assemble a multidisciplinary team – why did you make this choice?
In response to the scale of the challenges and the specific fields covered by the project, we chose to rely on skills that are adapted—or even tailor-made—for the transformation and regeneration project of the former Saint-Ouen colony site. The specificity of the team also lies in its strong ability to articulate strategy and design, formal and use-based approaches, urban programming and design through to implementation. This specificity is further reinforced by a constant concern to link project design with its operational implementation conditions, all the more so in a context of ecological and economic frugality.
How did you proceed?
All the expertise brought together by our team is based on training that is both diverse and complementary. Consideration of the challenges involved in transforming a site listed as a Historic Monument relies in particular on the presence of Léo Diehl-Carboni, Heritage Architect, holder of the DSA “Architecture and Heritage” from ENSA Paris-Belleville. Knowledge of construction techniques is developed by Lawan-Kila Toe, currently a PhD candidate at the research laboratory of ENSA Versailles (LéaV) in partnership with the University of Cergy-Pontoise. His experience in site supervision on rehabilitation and new construction projects (Public and technical facility) is a major asset to the team. Expertise in landscape-related issues is led by Louise Gluntz, holder of a Master’s degree in “Theory and Practice of Landscape Design” awarded by ENSP Versailles, Université Paris-Saclay and AgroParisTech. The operational urban approach is overseen by Clémentine Genet, a graduate of the Urban Planning Cycle at Sciences Po Paris Urban School. Finally, the team benefits from strong local expertise through Ronan Le Cornec, who has led numerous prospective projects and studies on the Breton and Norman coastal areas.
Had you worked together before?
The Collectif (in)visible founded by Gaspard Basnier, Léo Diehl-Carboni and Lawan-Kila Toe, has been accustomed to working together regularly since their early years in architecture school. This group is at the origin of the formation of the team, most of whose members met at ENSA Versailles. Although we have had the opportunity to work together on various architectural and urban competitions, this is a new team, specifically assembled for Europan.
