The project unifies the wish for living in close relation to a primeval landscape with an urban lifestyle. The design proposes a structure of three strips developing towards the east and south from the heart of the pearl down to the lake. Two big dwelling complexes form the northern and western conclusion of the pearl. The public urban space is clearly bordered by the dwellings which have a private, visual contact to the landscape. The concept of contrast also applies on the level of the pearl: the clear border between urban space and nature becomes visible while driving through the pearl where it appears as a densely urbanised area with a strong, artificial character, not revealing the connection of the dwellings to the landscape on first sight.

This project is connected to the following themes
Housing - Community
The housing development creates a radical difference between inside and outside, reflecting the conditions of the housing environment: the occupants live between natural forest and the domesticated outdoor space equipped with residential amenities.
Shared spaces - A Frame for social life
The public space is the spine of the three strips that run through the forest from the public core of the new “pearl” down to the lake, defined along its longitudinal borders by the linear the linear residential buildings.
Nature - Limit / Reconnection
Set up in the forest, the built ensemble forms mineral escarpments creating a strong opposition between the urban streets and nature (forest + water).
