LOOPS makes an approach to the programmatic potential of the contemporaneous landscape and to consideration of the highway as an essential element of the urban structure. The proposal intends to be focused in the infrastructural project, creating an opportunity to open a dialogue with the territory. The highway - its multiple viewpoints, the fusion between the nearest and the farther things, the impossibility to define a start and an end. Nowadays, a new dynamic variable has been introduced, the car - that kinetic element that multiplies the public spaces. The infrastructures do reorganize the urban scene, using the perception of the world in motion. “Loops” is a “Promenade Architecturale” within a territorial scope. Incorporating the infrastructure to the residential programme, the car is an element for resolving the accessibility to the houses in a comfortable and speedy way. Two loops rise and serve as a frame for the singularity of the proposal: a northern piece, bigger in size, where the houses grow around a great inner garden, and a southern piece that will be placed over the highway, facing the exterior. The dwellings colonize both structures, starting from a prefabricated system, open to diverse possible combinations, which will be inserted into the infrastructure.

This project is connected to the following themes
Mobility - Interface
The highway constitutes a productive urban feature, a habitable physical structure. The project establishes a radical proximity between programmes and the car, creating a hybrid structure in which the highway loops become simultaneously street and housing.
Housing - Ways of life
The dwellings are located within the extended highway structure, offering excellent car access: a prefabricated modular system can be assembled in various combinations for different needs, mirroring the individuation of car culture.
Shared spaces - A Frame for social life
The interior of an infrastructural loop is transformed into a large inner courtyard, which is protected from noise by an elevated housing structure that forms an extrusion of the ring.
