Europan 7 Tubize

winner

The project is articulated around two urban routes.
One spans the city of Tubize, linking trading estates, schools, a sports centre, stations etc. The other is a pedestrian liaison connecting the city centre and station to the action zone. Located logically where these two routes cross is the arts centre. While anchoring the site to the city, the whole is the starting point of a continuous, conserved plain, a piece of countryside.
The new flats are arranged along this stretch of nature, face to face with the council housing. The plain allows a confrontation of typologies and inhabitants, forming a link between the citizens, the city and the country. It becomes the essence of the urban space. The accommodation is organized around a greenhouse. This brings the garden into the heart of the flat.
