“Orbits” as prime instruments to generate a new urban development.
“Orbits” as connecting circuits, linear scenarios.
Urban trajectories, moving tracks able to receive and stir different and varied programmes. Urban activities as attachments, extensions to orbits.
An urban development based on the creation of a circuit connecting south and north areas subdivided by existing infrastructures into isolated and separate parts (tunnels, bridges and promenades). A mixed programme of housing, offices and social facilities is attached to different spots along the circuit in order to enhance the character of a heterogeneous and continuous urban landscape.
Two main housing typologies are proposed. On the eastern part two excavated suspended platforms are placed close to the railway track, acting as a strong, inhabited strong sound buffer. Linear U-shaped buildings re-interpret the existing blocks structure on the western part, hosting public spaces and opening up towards pedestrian roads.

Housing - Typology
“Light-well housing and linear wave housing” open up the block structure to the new street circuit and pathways, suggesting a Kasbah-like intimacy in dialogue with the downscaled dimensions of the public areas.
