Jean Maheu (1931-2022)

Jean Maheu, the first president of Europan, died on January 9, 2022.

He was one of the founders of European competitions. He chaired the Europan association from its creation in 1988 and worked to set up the European competitions for architecture and urban planning Europan 1 and 2 until 1991.

Jean Maheu was a great man of culture. In France, he directed the Music Department at the Ministry of Culture, then presided successively over the Georges Pompidou Art and Culture Center and the Radio France group, which includes all the public radio stations.

He published several works of poetry.
