1. How do you define the main issues of your project in relation with the theme “Re-sourcing”? Re-sourcing thanks to nature, to social dynamics, to new materiality? In which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution? And in which way do you think your project can be called a “regenerative project”?
SOFT PROSPECT understands re-sourcing as working with what is already there: soil, vegetation, local knowledge, materials and social networks. By reducing excavation and construction complexity, preserving the Third Landscape and introducing shared productive spaces, the project aims to regenerate both the ecological and social conditions of Klara Nova. 2. 2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
The site’s transition between rural and urban conditions became the starting point of the project. Instead of erasing this condition, SOFT PROSPECT works with it: existing vegetation and topography structure the urban fabric, while new housing, pedestrian paths and productive spaces create a porous relationship between domestic life, landscape and collective life.
PROJECT:
The project builds on an interest in the relationship between architecture, landscape and forms of collective life. Gilles Clément’s idea of the “Third Landscape” was a key reference, particularly in understanding spontaneous vegetation and existing ecosystems not as residual spaces, but as an active basis for designing the future of the site.
SITE:
The project is conceived as a simple and replicable system that can evolve over time. Low-tech brick construction, modular housing and the reuse of existing soil and vegetation allow different phases of implementation. Local labour, production and community uses can progressively become part of the transformation of Klara Nova.
REFERENCES:
Julio Sánchez and María Amador have been working together for several years as POOF-POOF, a creative partnership developing projects across design, architecture and objects. We usually work at smaller scales, often starting from the object. Europan gives us the opportunity to explore larger scales and challenge our usual way of working.
6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
Beyond its professional impact, the prize is an important personal recognition of the way we understand and practice architecture. It gives us motivation to continue developing our work, while encouraging us to explore new scales and opportunities beyond the boundaries of our usual practice.
