The public transport network (Urbinaga) intersection gives this site amazing character. The old industrial periphery of Sestao is today apparently isolated, despite its privileged position next to the Nervion River. The project adds a new programmatic intensity to the transport junction: a mixed-use district well situated in the context of a city population of 1 million (Metropolitan Area of Bilbao). Offices, shops and stores, parking lots, hotel, gardens and facilities are merged together, above, between and below the new and old infrastructures. In order to achieve this, the predesigned layout is reconsidered. A new axis is defined at a single stroke: the new avenue (Gran Via) is the station street, defining full and empty spaces and organising the new dwellings on the Galindo bank.

This project is connected to the following themes
Habitat - Autonomous morphology
A linear and continuous urban figure is proposed to deal with the density of the mixed use program, and within a strong context featured by the industrial port, the surrounding infrastructures and the waterfront. The large structure is split in two realities, a plinth of mixed uses and a top of dwellings.
