Europan 11 Pejë / Peć

winner

The plot where the university area is located is the boundary between the city of Pejë and the untamed nature of Rugova mountains, and the aim of our proposal is precisely to emphasize that reality, operating a reconnection between the organic of nature and the artificial of the urban.
Whilst on the large scale, this boundary is intensified by the rhythmic repetition of singular elements that the small residential towers imply, a continuous but human scale action is what configures the different areas of the campus from an inner perspective.
The serpentine structure that houses the shared facilities of the residence reconfigures the contour lines holding the ground, liberating a long green corridor across the city revealing the university zone – a complex volume of smaller parts carved out of the natural topography.

Habitat - Contextualized morphology

The proposal works with a natural boundary to generate an intermediate environment between the organic landscape and the artificial urban realm, where is anchored a collection of "U" shape buildings to host the university dormitories.
