The starting point is sensitive work with the existent and characteristic structures as checkpoints of a changing society and as a basis of the urban renewal process.
The two important city-structural identification points-county administration and the former convent - are connected with each other by the green Nuthe-corridor and the urban space sequence. An urban space continuum arises, that creates a multifaceted urban area with city-typical elements. The new place between market and Burg is the hitherto missing link of the urban space sequence, an action area that is usable for many purposes. Not the place because of the place, but the form through human use, is the most important fact. Not the mere filling with furniture, but the continuous change through different actions and activities make it possible to attract the people to this place to and make it part of the whole. The basic pattern of the new building structure is derived from the existing city structure. The street is defined by a two-storey front building. Into the depth of the lots different houses can be combined as elements to a stripe. By adding the stripes there arises a modern copy of the historical lot structure and a structural filling in the centre of Luckenwalde.

This project is connected to the following themes
Mobility - Urban Generator
In a dialectical counterpoint of two parallel walkways, the project proposes a natural promenade along the existing river and a more urban, fragmented line linking the existing landmarks, punctuated by operations on the public space.
Housing - Typology
The layout of the small patio houses is based on the historic plot boundaries. They act as infill within a perforated city fabric, their typologies allowing for different combinations of two-storey living and working.
Nature - Limit / Reconnection
The regeneration of the district goes through two parallel paths: one that is mineral like an inside street and the other vegetalized by promenades and soft mobility along the riverbanks.
