Europan 8 Ceuta

runner-up

The human erosion flows shaping the landscape. Architecture should attempt to reduce its artificialness and consider approaching the environment understood as social and natural. A growth pattern based on the orographic reinterpretation of the area is proposed. Considering the seriously damaged landscape – destroyed in the quarry above – the project is based on an exchange between the necessary and the sustainable, between the decisions regarding density and scope of application involving a consensus that arises from the situation. This human orography is a new formula of cohabitation and an alternative management proposal.

This project is connected to the following themes

Shared spaces - Intensification by superposition

The project plays on the strong existing topography to incorporate the proposal into the site. It offers a “human orography”, where a continuous public space is superimposed on the buildings.

Nature - Topography / ground

A man-made landscape of inclines is set against the gentle natural slope, creating a world of its own of light and shadow, wide views and protected privacy.
